Medfield Garden Club Meets March 12

If you are looking for information about spring pruning, the Medfield Garden Club will be the place for you on Wednesday, March 12 at 10 A.M., at the United Church of Christ on Main St.  An arborist once said, "The biggest mistake people make in pruning is to not do it."  Henry Patt, former senior horticulturist at Weston Nurseries, will be the guest speaker focusing on the “Basics of Pruning”.  Programs of the Medfield Garden Club are open to members and guests free of charge.

For 22 years Henry, recently retired, worked at the Hopkinton store of Weston Nurseries and helped countless gardeners.  The company’s website, on announcing his retirement, cites “his expertise and gentle demeanor, coupled with endless patience, made him a favorite of novice and experienced gardeners alike. We will miss his support and companionship, his common sense and his remarkable ability to explain even the most complicated procedure in  laymen’s terms, always down to earth and easily understood.  Anyone who ever attended a Henry Patt pruning seminar would attest to that.”

Over the years, Henry’s programs and seminars offered advice on:  when to prune, tools to use and care for and how to prune for best growth and display. The Medfield Garden Club is fortunate that Henry continues his gardening and his “pick your own” blueberry farm in Holliston and that he is willing to share his expertise while in retirement. This program will be very helpful to those getting ready for spring and is open to the public.
