Auditions for Musical Dinner Theatre!

First Parish Medfield is announcing auditions for the East Coast premiere of Le Bistro Café, a jazz-influenced musical comedy by composer Eva Kendrick. Set in modern-day Los Angeles, the action of the musical revolves around a scheming waiter and waitress who make a bet about the outcome of a customer’s blind date and then plot to ensure that he or she will win the bet.

Auditions will be held by appointment on August 2 & 3, 2013. All parts are currently open, and additional production volunteers are welcome. The cast has 13 characters (male/female, teens & adults), and a small chorus. A full cast list with voice types is available upon request. Prepare one Broadway song or jazz standard. Accompanist provided. Be prepared to read from sides (if asked). Please bring resume and headshot, if you have one. To schedule an audition, e-mail evakendrick@comcast.net with “AUDITION” in the subject. Rehearsals begin August 13. The musical will be presented as a dinner theatre on September 27 & 28, 2013.

Le Bistro Café premiered in Los Angeles to sold-out performances in 2003, funded in part by a Subito Grant from the American Composers Forum. Last fall, Kendrick, who is the Music Director at First Parish Medfield, and Director of the local Eva Kendrick Voice Studio, presented her original one-act opera Emily, about the life of Emily Dickinson. With visual and verbal humor that has a pulse on the L.A. social scene and with a lively jazz-influenced score, Le Bistro Café promises to be an enjoyable evening of musical theatre.
