Senior Send-off Weekend Begins at ForeKicks

Seniors celebrate end of the school year with a night at ForeKicks.

By Katie Nickerson

As the seniors leave high school—the last day of classes was May 17—many wonder what this group of individuals will do before the big day filled with caps, gowns, and diplomas. The administration strives to provide activities for the students before graduation day, June 2, to serve as lasting memories for a memorable group.

As a senior this year, the end of school seems daunting to me. While my fellow classmates and I are ecstatic for the future and show our enthusiasm—usually by debuting our future plans with bumper stickers, T-shirts and sweatpants adorned with a college name—we are a little apprehensive to say goodbye to everything we have known. We are saying goodbye to our comfort zone.

Seniors around the school are noting that the most difficult concept of graduating is to understand that after June 2, there will be fellow classmates who we will never see again. After being together for twelve years and bonding at events such as the Nature’s Classroom field trip, the D.C. trip, recess at Dale St., music class at heelock, and extracurriculars at MHS, it will be hard to just say goodbye.

Therefore, the administration provides activities for the senior class leading up to graduation, as one last hoorah to celebrate, remember, and look forward to the future.

New to the list of events this year is the night at ForeKicks, where the senior class will rent out the sports complex and spend the evening relaxing in the longue areas, playing on the numerous soccer fields and basketball courts, and enjoying each other’s company two days before graduation day.

This event, which will go from 7 to 10 Friday night, “will be a great way to end the year with a chill, fun party, and it’s the last time we can all hang out as a class before graduation,” says Kate Letai, the Class of 2013 Treasurer.

Letai, along with the other class officers, changed the normal order of the senior events by placing the senior cruise in the fall, and filling the now-vacant slot with the ForeKicks night.

ForeKicks Night will be a great way to be with the entire senior class before the inevitable future steps in, and we all say our final goodbyes to MHS.

Good luck, class of 2013!
