Senior Fashion Show Highlights

A student's view of the Senior Fashion Show.

Last Saturday night on March 16, the class of 2013 strutted their stuff down the runway at the annual Senior Fashion Show. This is one of the most anticipated events for seniors at Medfield High School because it kicks off the spring season and shows off the upcoming prom trends.

Coordinators Mrs. O'Reilly and Mrs. Slachta, have been in charge of the show for several years now and began this year's planning by assigning all students to different stores such as David's Bridal, Cache, and Deluxe Tux to choose their outfits for the show.

The theme of the night was red carpet so each section of the show was modeled after different award shows including the Academy Awards, the Grammy's and the Country Music Awards.

After weeks of preparation and anticipation, the night finally arrived. Senior hosts Bethany Merlin and Blake Brown engaged the audience with their clever wit and poise. Merlin summed up her experience as she said, "I was honored to host such an amazing event. It was a lot of fun, even if we [she and Blake] had no idea what we were doing! It was an incredible experience."

However they were not the only ones with noteworthy stage presence. Seniors who won over the audience with their stylish looks and dance moves included Matt Pembroke, Tyler Etzkorn, and Jess Barreto. The night ended with not only a farewell slideshow with all the seniors' personal messages thanking their family and friends, but a Medfield High School version of the Harlem Shake.

Ultimately the night proved to be a success as senior Lexi Nasraway said, "The fashion show was a great experience and really allowed me to bond with other classmates." Although it is sad knowing our final year of high school is coming to an end, the show was an unforgettable experience for the senior class that we will take with us even after we leave MHS.
