Upcoming Special Town Election on Red Gate Farm

Here are five things to know to help inform your day.

1. Medfield will hold a special town election on Oct. 21 to determine if the town should approve a debt exclusion to finance the purchase of a portion of the original Red Gate Farm lands. The polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Senior Center on Ice House Road.

2. The specimen ballot is available on the town's website. The question asks whether the town should be exempted from the provisions of Proposition 2 1/5 for the amount of a bond issue to cover the purchase of 31 acres.

3. Several readers have posted opinion pieces on Medfield Patch on the Red Gate Farm issue, taking positions both pro- and con- on the question of a town purchase of the property. If you would like to upload an opinion, post a Letter to the Editor here.

4. The Medfield Music Association is selling 16-inch balsam faced wreaths with your choice of a red or burgundy bow, to raise money for Medfield Public Schools music programs. The wreaths are $20 each. See more information here.

5. In Case You Missed It: two Medfield High School hockey players will have a chance to play against some Bruins players, in a fundraiser for melanoma research.
