Deadline Friday to Register to Vote in Special Town Meeting

1. A reminder that if you aren't already a registered voter, Friday is the deadline to register to participate in the Oct. 7 Special Town Meeting. You may register at either Medfield Town Hall from 1 to 4 p.m. or at Medfield Police headquarters from 4 to 8 p.m. Here are the warrant articles.

2. Selectman Osler 'Pete' Peterson said Wednesday that due to a work conflict, he will change his office hours in October. He will meet with town residents from 9 to 10 a.m. on Oct. 11 instead of Oct. 4. The location is the Center.

3. Medfield Selectmen have introduced a more intimate setting for town residents to share their concerns than the regular, televised Board of Selectmen meetings. The "Mini Town Halls" will be held in the home of a town resident each month, with a different selectman attending. It offers neighbors a chance to express concerns about specific issues that may relate to a particular neighborhood. The first is Thursday night, at the home of Mike and Caroline Quinlan, in the Stuart and Pondview Road neighborhood. Selectman Richard DeSorgher will attend.

4. Congratulations to the Medfield Cultural District and all of the town residents and business owners who voted in the national Community Matters competition. The entry for Visions and Voices for the pocket park was one of four winners. Each received $500 toward their effort.

5. If you are a parent of a child that is new to using the internet, or if you are confused about social media and how it is being used by teens, please plan to attend the free seminar on social media safety for parents Thursday. The first of two sessions, this one will focus on how teens use social media and what parents can do to prevent bullying.
