The acoustic guitar has been a musical fixture for centuries. Beginning in 17th century Spain and continuing through present day, the guitar has been used in almost all styles of music using a variety of techniques. Some of these styles include classical, flamenco, blues, jazz, ragtime, latin, japanese, and hawaiian, and some of the techniques used are finger-style, tremolo, plectrum, harmonics, slide, percussive playing, and alternate tunings. This program will explore many of the different styles and techniques on this extremely versatile instrument.
Chris Keiffer is a unique guitarist who actively performs and teaches in the Boston area and is a 2007 graduate of the Berklee College of Music. In his 25 years of playing and studying, he has explored a variety of musical styles on both the acoustic and electric guitar including blues, folk, jazz, slide, bluegrass, rock, R&B and funk. In recent years, his focus has been on solo acoustic guitar and the many moods it can create. From the beauty of a gypsy love ballad, to the earthy soul of pre-war acoustic blues, Chris has an appreciation and love for all styles of music and he strives to share this passion with his students and those around him.
Join us for an afternoon of wonderful guitar music!
