Wednesday's portion of this week's two-day storm has brought a nasty mix of sleet and rain in addition to the 9.25 inches of snow that has fallen on town, causing roads and walkways to freeze over as temperatures drop. Medfield Chief of Police Robert E. Meaney Jr. said the snow covered roads became packed snow with ice Wednesday morning, causing dangerous driving conditions. "The driving was very dangerous for a couple hours until the DPW could scrape, salt and sand the roads," Meaney said. "Even now some of the roads without a lot of traffic are very slick." Medfield has already received 6.5 inches of snow as of Tuesday night, according to Medfield Weather, with plenty more of it to come late Tuesday and through Wednesday. According to the National Weather Service, another four to eight inches is expected to fall on town with a messy mix of sleet and freezing rain in Wednesday's forecast. February has brought a not-so-friendly winter greeting to Medfield as the town endures another snow storm this week. The National Weather Service station in Taunton has issued a winter storm warning starting at 6 a.m. Tuesday and ending at 1 a.m. Thursday. Snow is expected to fall heavily throughout the day with a brief break Tuesday evening. Visibility could be as little as a half-mile at points during the storm. Medfield's latest snowstorm has left nearly seven inches of the white stuff just in time for Thursday morning's commute, according to Medfield Weather, and has closed the town's schools. Medfield Public Schools and the Montrose School on North Street are both closed today due to the storm. The Medfield Public Library and Town Hall are both open and operating under normal business hours. We've already had almost 53 inches of snow this winter, so what's another foot? The National Weather Service in Taunton has issued a Winter Storm Warning for much of Southern New England, predicting 8 to 12 inches of heavy snow across the area. The warning began at 4 p.m. Wednesday afternoon and will run until 10 a.m. Thursday. Just as the frigid temperatures have left the region, another snow storm is following close behind.  A winter storm watch has been issued by theNational Weather Service in Taunton from Wednesday afternoon to Thursday morning as another 6 to 12 inches of snow are expected to fall on Medfield. The National Weather Service out of Taunton has issued a Winter Storm Warning in Medfield with snow expected to begin falling after 3 a.m. early Friday. “A high impact but short duration snowstorm will affect much of the region very late [Thursday night] into early Friday afternoon,” the NWS said in its winter storm warning. Tuesday's Board of Selectmen meeting at Town Hall has been canceled due to winter weather. If a shovel could become a scraper and an umbrella, Medfield residents would be all set for the Tuesday morning commute. One to three inches of snow, followed by freezing rain and then rain, possibly heavy, are expected here Tuesday, the National Weather Service said Monday. Medfield recovers Thursday from a winter storm that left 18.5 inches of snow on town Wednesday and caused power outages, downed wires and trees and a whole lot of shoveling.  The weather is expected to Sunny with temperatures around 30 degrees today as DPW and Highway departments finish cleaning up around town. There are 632 National Grid customers without power right now, due to the snowstorm that has dumped over a foot of snow on Medfield with more expected to come. "There is another band of snow (3 to 6 inches) that will/may arrive in the mid-afternoon," said Medfield Police Chief Robert E. Medfield Chief of Police, Robert E. Meaney Jr., has advised town residents to stay off the roads if possible because the heavy snow is causing problems on the roads. "All roads are snow covered and some roads are not plowed from side to side and are more narrow than normal due to trees hanging over the road," Meaney said Wednesday morning. Medfield Public Schools are closed Wednesday due to the probable snowstorm expected to hit Massachusetts hard, according to superintendent Bob Maguire. An inch and a half of snow has fallen on Medfield with more expected tonight and early Sunday morning, according to Medfield Weather. The forecast calls for up to two more inches of snow late tonight and into early Sunday morning, according to the National Weather Service. The storm should clear out by Sunday afternoon. Skies will be sunny with a high temperature of 34-degrees.  After a clear and sunny Monday, more snow is expected in the area Tuesday and Wednesday.
It appears the worst of this weekend's snowstorm is headed out towards Western Massachusetts and Medfield is likely to see up to an inch of snow Friday night, according to the National Weather Service in Taunton. “We’re not looking for a big impact on this,” said National Weather Service forcaster Charlie Foley.
