A weekly profile highlighting the Medfield Animal Shelter's pet of the week. Jeter is a silly, young and playful dog who came to the Medfield Animal Shelter from the Worcester Animal Rescue League. He is named after Olympic gold medalist Carmelita Jeter. "We aren't sure what kind of mix he is, but it is something that is very cute," said Kim Agricola from the shelter." She said, "We are just getting to know him, but so far we know he is very nice and was great with one of our volunteer's kids. He also loves toys." Molly arrived at the Medfield Animal Shelter last week as a pre-arranged surrender. Her family had one young child and then a premature baby and they felt Molly was not getting enough attention. Kim Agricola of the Medfield Animal Shelter describes Molly as a “plucky little beagle” who is “easygoing and sweet, loves her car rides…and is thrilled to go for her short walks when she isn’t taking long naps on her fleece next to the [shelter's] manager's chair.” Molly's surrender did not go as smoothly as planned. Before dropping off Molly, the previous owners sent photos of a very chubby, bright…
"May" showed up at the back door of a resident in Webster and it turned out the cat made a lucky choice to pick this individual as her rescuer. The Webster resident is a friend of all animals and never turns down a stray's plea for help, according to Kim Agricola of the Medfield Animal Shelter. "The woman didn't recognize May as one of the neighborhood indoor/outdoor cats so she posted 'Found Cat' signs in an effort to reunite May with her family," Agricola said. May's rescuer thinks she might have been abandoned by one of the college students leaving the area for summer break since several …
Bam Bam is a very handsome one-year-old classic tabby and white boy who looks and acts like the famous Japanese cat, Maru – Maru stars in many adorable videos on Youtube. "He is friendly, outgoing, charming, and mischievous; still very kittenish in many ways," said Kim Agricola of the Medfield Animal Shelter. "He will steal toys from anyone, anywhere, at any time. He loves to launch himself into your lap, burrow his head under an arm and purr himself to sleep. He would probably be happiest in a home with other playful cats." Bam Bam is neutered, up to date on FVRCP and rabies (April 2012) and…
Louis is a sweet dog who came to the Medfield Animal Shelter through the Massachusetts Animal Coalition's PILOT program, according to Kim Agricola of the Medfield Animal Shelter. "We think he is about seven years old," Agricola said. "Being a Beagle, he has a musical hound voice that to a Beagle lover sounds wonderful. It can convey, 'squirrel, squirrel, SQUIRREL,' or 'please take me for a ride please, you know I love to do errands with you,' or 'Intruder, alert, intruder ... whoops, no, just a leaf.'" Louis' owner died in a tragic accident and the person who took him in was not very kind to …

"She was adopted from us three and a half years ago but was returned because she meowed a lot," Agricola said. "When she cannot see other cats she only meows to say hello and to ask us to spend some time with her. She had been on thyroid medication but we had her checked by our vet and discovered her thyroid …

Kim Agricola of the Medfield Animal Shelter describes Jojo as a "very sweet and energetic four-year-old Lab mix." "She is a typical Lab in that she lives for food and walks," Agricola said. "Her previous owner said she used to share her toast with Jojo every morning and Jojo could smell chicken from across the room." Jojo weighs 70 pounds but is a bit overweight, so she is getting lots of exercise to help her get in shape for spring. Jojo was adopted when she was one-year-old by grandparents caring full-time for their grandchildren and she lived with them for three years and was a loving dog …
The Medfield Shelter has been inundated with bunnies that need new homes and it has filled its rabbit cages and has several others in foster homes. Amelia came to the shelter from Sweet Binks Rabbit Rescue, after they kindly agreed to swap two of their healthy adoptable rabbits for two extremely neglected Angora rabbits that needed special care our Shelter couldn't provide. Amelia is a Dwarf Hotot and is only about 1-year-old. Hotots are mostly all white, with a band of black fur around their eyes that gives them a unique and adorable look. Hotots are known for their affectionate, playful…
Dundee is lucky enough to be the second most popular color choice for cats, with white being the most popular, according to Kim Agricola of the Medfield Animal Shelter. "It must be that orange is such a rare color for animals, except in tigers and smaller cats," Agricola said of Dundee's popular color choice. "We most like the description of him being a ginger cat that our former British volunteer calls him along with him being 'cheeky' when he flirts with her after she brings him a treat at lunch." Agricola says Dundee may have started life as a lost cat or a cat who was left behind as a …
Maya and Dillon (Dilly) are seven-year-old Snowshoe Siamese sisters. They were adopted from Arizona as a surprise gift for a friend of the couple that relinquished them to the Medfield Shelter. It turned out that after they arrived in Massachusetts, the friend did not want any pets. The couple, who loves cats, decided to keep them even though they already owned seven cats. Their cats, all males, had different ideas about this and made it clear they do not like the girls and tormented them to the point that Maya and Dilly spent their days on top of very tall furniture just to get some peace, …

As you can tell from his pictures, Riley has been a loved and cared for family dog all his life. He is six years old and is in need of a new home due to a serious family illness that has left his family stretched too thin to care for him, according to Kim Agricola of the Medfield Animal Shelter. "He is a typical Beagle -- a bit stubborn, but so cute he can get away with it," Agricola said. "He is housebroken, neutered and up-to-date on all of his vet care. Unfortunately, the stress of all the change in his life has affected Riley, so we want to place him in a home with no young kids, even …
