Final Days at Lord's

The iconic Lord's Department Store will be open for only a few more days.  Most items have been sold, but customers were still buying today at a great 75% discount!

Nancy Kelly-Lavin and her brother Tom are still working hard to move the final items from the store, but so much is gone now that you can hear the sound of your own voice echoing.  Once empty they will clean, and after 73 years in business, there is much to clean.

Bags filled with Lord's t-shirts are still waiting to be picked up by the people who ordered them and with the store planning to close as soon as Saturday, hopefully those people will stop by on Friday to pick and pay for their t-shirts!

The clock is ticking and Lord's days as a five and dime, the place where you could buy everything and Medfield's community gathering site is coming to an end.  It is the sad end of an era.

Any update on the previously-discussed possibility of moving the "Lords" neon sign up to the top of the building, and calling the whole building "The Lords Building"? Seems like a great idea.

Hi Dave,
I haven't heard the most recent plan! There was talk that the new owner of the bldg might call it "Lord's block" or "Lord's corner" and move the sign up as you mention, but that was said more than a month ago....Do any PATCH readers have more up to date information on this??
