Today's question: "Why was there heavy machinery at the Mobil station last week?"
Answer: The new owner was there scoping out the underground storage tanks.
According to the Downtown Study Committee, the new owner, Salvatore Capital Partners LLC, purchased the property last week and was there on Wednesday and Thursday because "they're starting to do their testpitting" to prepare for the removal of the underground gasoline storage tanks.
The site is slated to be renovated over the summer and open as a Starbucks coffee shop by September.
