Weekend Planner for August 3-5

Here's a look at what's going on around the area this weekend.

 

 

1.  Robert D. Hersee Dedication Concert at Blake Middle School

Where/When:  Thomas A. Blake Middle School Auditorium (formerly Medfield Junior-Senior High School), Friday at 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Why Go: Two-hour musical revue made up of MHS alumni, including many members of the current MHS Band and Jazz Band. The event will feature the unveiling of a permanent plaque honoring the long time Music teacher and icon, Bob Hersee.  

Pricing: $15 per person, public welcome

2. Pan-Mass Challenge Cycles through Medfield 

Where/When: Streets of Medfield, Saturday Morning, August 4

Why Go:  Come out to cheer on cyclists who are raising money for cancer research

Pricing: Free

3. Medfield High School Reunion Social

Where/When:  American Legion Hall, Peter Kristoff Way; Saturday, August 4 at 7 p.m.

Why Go: Part of the multi-year class reunion arranged by the Medfield High School Alumni Association

Pricing: $30 per person; tickets available at door.  Also: Donations will be accepted of non-perishable foods and canned goods for the Medfield Food Pantry. 

4. Medfield High School Alumni Barbeque

Where/When:  Rocky Woods Reservation; Sunday, August 5 at noon

Why Go: Part of the multi-year class reunion arranged by the Medfield High School Alumni Association

Pricing: $10 per person; tickets available at door.  MHSAA will provide hot dogs and hamburgers 

5.  New N’ Towne New Members Social

Where/When:  Home of Sue and Tom Rose; for details contact 359-2822 or agentsuescully@hotmail.com

Why Go: For Medfield residents who have moved to town since January 2012 to meet other people who have moved to town in the last five years.

6. Friday, Canton: Blue Hills Brewery Tours

Where/When: Blue Hills Brewery, Canton; Friday, 3:30-6:30 p.m. and Saturday 2-6 p.m.

Why Go: Blue Hills Brewery makes great tasting beers inspired by the elements and nature around; embracing the rich history of the Blue Hills and the South Shore. Stop by the brewery for a complimentary tour and tasting, held every weekend.

7. Friday, Canton:  Shakespeare in the Park (Antony and Cleopatra) with the Gazebo Players of Medfield

Where/When: Canton Community Theatre, 90 Washington St; starting at 8pm; rain location:

Why Go: Cast includes Medfield residents Jim Merlin, Cynthia Small, and Steve Small.

8. Saturday/Sunday, Walpole:  Shakespeare in the Park (Antony and Cleopatra) with the Gazebo Players of Medfield

Where/When:  Music Court at Bird Park, August 4 and 5, starting at 5pm; rain location: Walpole Footlighters, 5 Scout Rd.

Why Go: Cast includes Medfield residents Jim Merlin, Cynthia Small, and Steve Small.

9. Sunday, Foxboro: Patriot Place ‘Sounds of Summer’ Concert Series featuring TransMission and Static Luminocity

Where/When: Patriot Place2 Patriot Pl, Foxborough, MA, Sunday, 4 p.m.

Why Go: Patriot Place is presenting some amazing talent this year to bring music to the plaza while you shop, dine and enjoy. Local talent is given the stage and will be showcasing the music you know and love. We are offering a variety of music styles such as contemporary and alternative rock, jazz, blues, country, folk and 60's progressive to name a few.
