Medfield head coach Travis Taliaferro said the Warriors showed "youthful nerves" in Tuesday's loss, giving up five unearned runs to Abington.

But they didn't give up.

"After going down 4-0 through three innings we clawed our way back to a 4-4 tie," Taliaferro said.

After that point, Medfield gave up three unearned runs in the fifth inning on three infield errors - giving Abington the 7-4 lead and eventual victory.

Emily Kafka was the offensive star, according to Taliaferro, driving in two runs and scoring the other two. She went 2-for-3 with a double and a triple. Jessie O'Loughlin and Jackie Flint combined to scatter eight hits.

Seniors Lucy Allen and Kara Pelosi also each scored a run.

"Obviously very proud of our season," Taliaferro said. "Especially considering the very modest expectations that others placed on this team from day one. The girls certainly gave a scare to the number one seeded team and continued to improve throughout hte season."

Taliaferro added the achievements made this season on the diamond would not be possible without the efforts of his captains, Allen and Kristin Foster.

Medfield head coach Chris DuBose said the girls played "some of their strongest tennis of the year" in this year's tournament, despite the 5-0 loss to fellow TVL champion Hopkinton.

"They finished the season playing their best tennis," DuBose said. "Hopkinton was a strong opponent but the Medfield girls challenged them strongly, forcing the Hopkinton girls to improve their play."
