School Committee Hires Superintendent Search Firm
In a letter to parents on Friday, the Medfield School Committee said it would hire a professional search firm to find a new school superintendent.
12/5/12 Update: The Dec. 17 meeting will begin at 7:30 p.m.
The Medfield School Committee sent a letter to parents last week saying committee members have decided to hire a professional search firm to find a replacement for current Superintendent Robert Maguire who will retire in June.
The school committee will interview search firms on Dec. 11 and then discuss the candidates on Dec. 17. The public is invited to attend all meetings.
The Nov. 16 letter to parents reads...
Bob Maguire recently announced his intention to retire as Medfield's Superintendent of Schools at the conclusion of this school year. In our role as School Committee, it is our responsibility to hire the next Superintendent of Schools. It is our intention to do so in an open and transparent manner seeking the input of all the constituencies involved with the schools -- parents, staff, community members, and students.
We have decided to utilize a professional search firm and will hold interviews of several firms at a School Committee meeting on Tuesday, December 11th with a 7:00 pm start time. Due to scheduling complications, this date is a departure from the recently published dates. The interviews will be held in the high school TV Production Classroom where the School Committee meets. Our goal is to complete the search firm interviews at this meeting and anticipate holding a discussino regarding the firms at our December 17th meeting. The public is invited to attend these meetings.
We will keep you informed of critical dates in the search process as they develop. In the meantime, we would welcome any thoughts you have about either the process or the qualities you'd like to see in our next Superintendent. Please feel free to e-mail the committee at firstname.lastname@example.org. Thank you.
