What Should Go Here?

Take our poll and let us know what should go in the third lot on Ice House Road?

There is a third empty lot at the end of Ice House Road where several people and agencies have expressed interest to build a project.

No plans have been submitted for any project in that area but town officials say many people have many ideas about what would work best on that site.

What would you like to see on that lot? Different suggestions include a private athletic facility, senior housing, or town-owned recreation fields.

What do you think? Take our poll and let us know.

Don't see your choice on the list? Tell us about it in the comment section below.

Town-owned recreation fields run by the Park and Rec should have first priority.

Lets put something in there to drive additional tax revenue. Between Metacomet, the Hospital and Wheelock it seems like we have plenty of recreation fields.

Speaking of Park & Rec, how about an actual Park & Rec building? They have aged out of the Pfaff, they need a larger space, they need more up to date facilities. They do an an amazing job with what they have, but picture a space with an actual usable kitchen for classes, a dedicated space for teens, a floor that doesn't bounce and bend for exercise activities etc.

The town is not good at running things like sports complexes. Let a private entity come in and run it and provide lease payments to the town. Park & Rec is a "nice to have" not a "need to have" and should be revenue neutral or positive.
