I took my boys to Purgatory Chasm when they were young ; they were always happy there and I never felt it dangerous as long as usual caution was taken and they understood. I am sure that they still have good memories of it.

I was at Purgatory Chasm yesterday, and witnessed the man fall within 20 feet of where I was standing. As tragic as this is, this place is no more dangerous than any other hiking area. With proper caution it is a safe and enjoyable place to visit. My prayers are with Matthew Felt's family.

I was there Monday I felt it to be a little dangerous for my liking however I was there with my husband and his friend who is experienced are experienced outdoorsmen.. So my boys had a great time! I think if you take the proper precautions and are extremely careful in what you are doing you will be Ok out there! My thoughts and prayers are with the family of the man who passed yesterday may he rest in peace....
