Medfield Track Teams Place Second at TVL Championships

Warriors' boys' and girls' squads finish second behind Hopkinton at TVL Championships Thursday in Westwood.

The Medfield High School boys' and girls' track teams followed up successful dual meet seasons in the Tri-Valley League with an impressive showing at the TVL Championships Thursday afternoon in Westwood.

The Medfield boys' track squad (7-2, 7-2) placed second behind Hopkinton in a field of nine TVL teams with 69 total points. The Hillers ran away with the TVL title, recording 127 points.

Brian D'Amore placed fifth in the 100 meter dash with a time of 12.06 seconds; Matt Reissfelder placed third in the one-mile run with a time of 4:33.02; Ian Robertson placed fifth in the one-mile at 4:44.10; Jack Moses finished fifth in the two-mile run at 10:23.30;  Ben Lester placed second in the 800 meter run at 2:01.73; Connor Heaney finished fifth in the 800 at 2:05.48; James Marvel-Coen finished second in the 110 meter hurdles at 15.79 seconds; James Marvel-Coen placed second in the 400 meter hurdles at 58.95 seconds; Medfield placed fourth in the 4x400 meter relay wit ha time of 3:43.13; Justin Williams placed fourth in the long jump wit ha jump of 18-07.75; Justin Williams placed second in the triple jump with a jump of 38-05.50; Luke Barrett placed fourth in the shot put with a throw of 40-09.00; Michael Baker placed fifth in the javelin throw with a toss of 134-08. The Medfield girls' track squad (8-1, 8-1) placed second behind Hopkinton in a field of 10 TVL teams with 86.50 total points. The Hillers ran away with the TVL title, recording 126 points.

Notable finishes for MHS girls:

Kristina Gustafson placed second in the 200 meter dash with a time of 27.32 seconds; Taylor Worthy placed second in the 400 meter dash with a time of 61.68 seconds; Sally Todd placed fifth in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:32.86; Alex Stanton placed first in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 15.91 seconds; Chrissy Grech placed fourth in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 17.48 seconds; Alex Stanton placed first in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 64.03 seconds; Medfield 4x100 meter relay team of Megan McCordic, Melissa Newell, Rose Sievewright and Kate Piersiak placed first with a time of 52.56 seconds; 4x400 meter relay team finished second with a time of 4:21.96; Brittany Averill placed fifth in the high jump with a jump of 4-07; Alex Stanton placed first in the long jump with a jump of 16-08.50 and Mekenzie Smith placed fifth with a jump of 16-02.00; Mekenzie Smith placed first in the triple jump with a jump of 32-00.00.
