Medfield Hockey Teams Set for MIAA State Tournament
Medfield boys’ earn preliminary round bye in MIAA D3 South Sectional; girls’ open Wednesday against Concord-Carlisle at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Iorio Arena in Walpole.
The Medfield High School boys’ and girls’ hockey teams found out where they will be seeded in their respective MIAA State Tournaments and who their first round opponents will be after the league released the tournament brackets Saturday.
The Medfield girls’ earned the 14th seed in the MIAA Division 2 State Tournament after finishing the regular season 10-5-5 and will “host” Concord-Carlisle (9-8-3), the tournament’s 19th seed. The puck drops at Iorio Arena in Walpole at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 29.
The Medfield boys’ earned the top seed in the MIAA Division 3 South Sectional State Tournament and a preliminary round bye after a 16-3-1 regular season, which resulted in the team’s first Tri-Valley League title since 2006. The Warriors will await the winner of Tuesday’s Mashpee vs. Westwood game in the tournament’s first round. Details of Medfield’s first round game are to be determined.
