Discovering Great Food at Takara Japanese Restaurant

Takara, at the corner of Green and North Streets, offers an extensive menu, including several varieties of sushi.

I love to try new restaurants and, surprisingly, Medfield has lots to try.

I recently discovered , a Japanese restaurant and bar at the corner of Green and North Streets.

The atmosphere is relaxing, the staff is friendly, and the food is delicious!

Their extensive menu includes everything from a quick, light appetizer for one to a sushi party boat for 70.

Our party tried several dishes, including the vegetable tempura (vegetables in a flaky batter served with rice and salad), Yaki Soba (Japanese egg noodles stir fried with vegetables served with Miso soup), Beef Don (spicy beef with scallions and onions served over rice), and Ten Don (shrimp tempura over special rice served with Miso soup).

One of the restaurant’s specialties, of course, is sushi.

We started our meal with the California Inside Out Roll (crab, tobiko, avocado and cucumber with rice on the outside), and Soft Shell Crab – both of which were quite tasty.

Other menu offerings include a variety of salads, tofu dishes, and other house specials such as Bibimbab, a traditional Korean rice dish made with marinated vegetables and a cooked egg and served with rice.

Takara also offers lunch specials Monday through Saturday from 11:30 a.m. (noon on Saturday) to 3 p.m. with prices starting at $7.95.

While I loved trying a few new Japanese dishes, my favorite dish to sample at any restaurant is dessert – and Takara did not disappoint.

Understandably, the dessert menu is small and, honestly, the dinner portions were such that we didn’t need dessert but that didn’t stop us…

Our party shared the fried ice cream (always a favorite) and the fried banana – yes, banana – served with vanilla ice cream – that was a rare treat and one we look forward to ordering again soon.

So, if you are already enjoy Japanese food or if you’re interested in trying a new cuisine, I suggest a visit to Takara at One Green Street.

Enjoy!  お食事をお楽しみ下さい
