Registration is open for walkers and runners to participate in the Grief Relief 5K, scheduled for 8 a.m. Nov. 12 at Medfield High School/Middle School, 88R South St., Medfield.
The event will raise support and awareness for Comfort Zone, a national nonprofit bereavement program for children and teens that have lost a parent, guardian or sibling. Camps are free of charge for campers and provide participants with a fun weekend of camp activities coupled with confidence-building programs and age based support groups to help break the emotional isolation grief often brings.
There will be family-friendly events, including a kid's fun run, Touch A Truck, face painting, balloon animals, Child ID cards, music, food, raffles and silent auctions.
The raffle and silent auction items include: a gingerbread house, tickets (BC Hockey, Red Sox, Blue Man Group, Rockettes, Peter Pan, Ski Lift Tickets), an "old school" Bruins jersey, math tutoring, Nintendo, other computer software, iPod touch, Excel Laser Skin Clinique, restaurant gift certificates, and a power drill.
The registration fees are $30 for adults, $20 for teens ages 13 to 17, and $15 for children ages 12 and under, and $5 for leashed (and friendly) dogs. Event registration includes entry into the 5K, and event merchandise.
Register online until Nov. 10 or at the event. Onsite registration begins Saturday at 8 a.m. Leashed (friendly) dogs are welcome for $5.
